That’s where we come in. We do the research so you don’t have to click through hundreds of customer reviews and website pages to find vital information.
Below, we get to the bottom of whether American Comfort is a company worth your time and attention.
Here are the pros and cons of American Comfort’s line of mattresses:
Pros
- Organic construction. The company’s line of Natura mattresses is made from natural latex taken from certified organic rubber trees. Mattresses also contain other organic materials like wool, which the company says are humanely harvested.
- Certifications. Foams are CertiPUR-US certified, and the natural Talalay latex foam is OEKO-TEX certified. Mattresses also contain Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified materials.
- American-made. American Comfort manufactures and assembles its Natura mattresses in East Windsor, Connecticut.
Cons
- No trial period. There’s no mention of a trial period on the American Comfort website, so it looks like it’s not possible to try out the mattress.
- Unclear company policies. The website also fails to outline a clear exchange or return policy. There’s also no word about mattress warranty details.
- No mention of firmness. Mattress descriptions are sparse and don’t always contain information about firmness level. It’s hard to figure out if the mattress you’re looking at will be on the soft or firm side.
- Limited customer reviews. None of the products have customer ratings.
- Difficult to reach for questions. When we tried to reach out to the brand to answer some questions about information we couldn’t find on their site, we were unable to reach them. Their phone number appeared to be out of service and we never received a response via email or social media.
Pricing guide
To help give you an indication of price, we marked each mattress with one of the following, based on a queen-size mattress:
- $ = under $1,500
- $$ = $1,500–$3,000
- $$$ = over $3,000
American Comfort has four mattress lines, each containing different materials.
Natura Organic Collection

- Price: $$–$$$
- Type: Latex foam
- Height range: 7.5–12 inches
- Good for: People seeking an organic, eco-friendly mattress
The three mattresses in the Organic line have the same certified organic cotton and wool cover and a 6-inch Talalay latex core.
All three mattresses also have comfort layers made with natural Talalay latex, and the Eco Restore and Eco Sanctuary Firm also have layers of natural Dunlop latex. The main difference between Talalay and Dunlop latex is how they’re produced, but some say that Talalay latex is a bit softer than Dunlop.
The mattresses range in price because of their different comfort layers. Here’s how they compare:
Eco Refresh | Eco Restore | Eco Sanctuary Firm
Thickness | 1 inch | 3 inches | 5 inches |
Materials | 1 inch Talalay latex | 1 inch Talalay latex, 2 inches Dunlop latex | 1 inch Talalay latex, 4 inches Dunlop latex |
The thicker comfort layers also make for a taller mattress overall. Thicker mattresses typically feel plusher than thinner mattresses.

Natura Latex Collection

- Price: $
- Type: Latex foam
- Height range: 11 inches
- Good for: Those who prefer a plusher feel
There’s currently only one mattress available for purchase in the Latex line called the Twilight Euro. Unlike the Natura Organic mattresses, the Twilight does not include certified organic materials outside of the organic cotton cover.
It has 4 inches of latex foam comfort layers. The mattress cover is made with organic cotton, contains natural wool, and has an extra 1-inch layer of foam. American Comfort describes the Twilight Euro mattress feel as soft, so it might be a good option for side sleepers.
The website says that the Twilight comes with a 10-year warranty, but we had a hard time finding the policy details or getting a hold of the brand for more information.

Natura Spring Collection

- Price: $–$$
- Type: Hybrid
- Height range: 12–14 inches
- Good for: People looking for a more responsive feel
Like the Natura Organic line, all mattresses in the Spring line have the same materials and core but vary in thickness. Also like the Natura Organic line, the varying thickness of each mattress stems from the different comfort layers in each one:
Laurel Plush | Laurel Euro Top | Laurel Plush Euro Top
Thickness | 2 inches | 3 inches | 4 inches |
Materials | 1 inch Talalay latex, 1 inch plant-based foam | 2 inches Talalay latex, 1 inch plant-based foam | 3 inches Talalay latex, 1 inch plant-based foam |
The mattresses have a top layer that features a certified organic cotton cover, natural wool, and what American Comfort dubs an eco-friendly plant-based foam. The coil springs are encased in foam, which likely means the mattresses have slightly less bounce than a traditional hybrid mattress.
It also looks like these mattresses come with a 10-year warranty, but there aren’t any details about the policy and we weren’t able to get a hold of the brand for more information.

Natura Renew Collection

- Price: $–$$
- Type: Latex foam
- Height range: 9.5–12.5 inches
- Good for: Those looking for an affordable eco-friendly, plant-based mattress.
The Renew collection also contains three models, each with the same materials and core. Its top layer contains wool, plant-based foam, and an organic cotton cover. Each mattress has different comfort layers:
Torrence | Ultima | Columbia Firm
Thickness | 2 inches | 4 inches | 5 inches |
Materials | 2 inches latex foam | 4 inches latex foam | 3 inches Talalay latex, 1 inch latex foam |
These mattresses are super-similar to the Euro Twilight in the Natura Latex collection. The most notable difference from the products’ descriptions is the amount of wool used in the top layer: the Euro Twilight contains 4.2 pounds of wool and the Natura Renew collection contains 2.3 pounds.
It’s likely that the difference in wool makes the Natura Renew mattresses a bit firmer than the Euro Twilight, but it’s hard to tell from the product descriptions and we weren’t able to connect with the brand to verify.

American Comfort mattresses are available on the American Comfort website, where you can also browse their other product offerings, including comforters, pillows, and mattress pads.
American Comfort mattresses all contain very similar materials, but there are a few crucial differences.
Organic materials
All the mattresses contain some amount of organic material, but the Natura Organic mattresses have the most certified organic materials, including organic wool and cotton.
Keep in mind, though, that the Natura Organic mattresses don’t contain organic latex. If you’re looking for something 100 percent organic, look for a mattress that contains Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) certified latex.

Mattress type
American Comfort has a few different mattress types available, including hybrid and all-foam options.
If you prefer a responsive feel and want a supportive sleep surface, opt for a mattress from the Natura Spring line of hybrid mattresses. They contain both natural latex and springs. Hybrid mattresses are ideal for all body types and are typically more durable than all-foam mattresses.
The other Natura mattress lines are all-foam options. All-foam mattresses are better at isolating movement, which can be a huge plus if you tend to disturb your partner by tossing and turning.
Thickness
The mattresses all have comfort layers of varying thicknesses. American Comfort doesn’t make any mention of what to expect in terms of firmness. Generally, though, the thicker the comfort layer, the plusher the mattress feel.
Research suggests that people tend to find a medium-firm mattress the most comfortable. Unfortunately, without customer reviews or descriptions that provide a general idea of firmness level, it’s tough to say what to expect from these mattresses. The company also doesn’t offer in-home trials, and there’s no way to tell whether they allow exchanges or returns.
There’s a Better Business Bureau page for American Comfort but no rating for the company. On the plus side, there don’t seem to be any recent or pending lawsuits accusing the company of unsavory business practices. They’ve also never had any major recalls of their products.
Some American Comfort mattress descriptions mention a “rayone FR barrier.” Still, there’s no FAQ page that outlines whether the mattresses meet federal flammability requirements. However, the company is pretty transparent about what’s inside its mattresses and where they’re made and manufactured. You can find all that info on the Natura Collection page.
We are a little concerned about how hard it is to reach American Comfort. We tried to reach out to them to get more information about their company policies and mattress descriptions, but their phone number appeared to be out of service and we never received a response via email or social media.
None of the mattresses have any ratings or customer reviews. There’s only a testimonials page, which includes a handful of brief customer statements.
There also aren’t any reviews for the brand on third-party websites like Trustpilot.
The website doesn’t mention anything about shipping policies or methods, so it’s unclear how the mattress will arrive if you purchase one.
Return policies and in-home trial periods can be a lifesaver when shopping for a mattress. If you don’t end up liking the firmness or feel, you have options for either returning or exchanging your mattress and finding one that helps you sleep better.
Unfortunately, American Comfort doesn’t seem to have a return policy on their website. This is typically a red flag when purchasing a mattress — especially when so little information is available about how the mattress feels and what customers think about it.
Each American Comfort Natura mattress collection promises an eco-friendly mattress packed with organic, natural materials. The different models sound appealing, but it’s really tough to find any detailed information about the company’s policies or what customers think about the mattresses.
While we love that American Comfort makes its earth-friendly mattresses in the United States, we don’t love the difficult-to-navigate website or the lack of transparency about company policies. We don’t recommend purchasing from a company that doesn’t clearly list its return and warranty policies, provide transparent insight into past purchases, or make it easy to get a hold of them for questions.
